Tanzanite
Tanzanite Blueish Violet, Pear, 2.05 ct, VVS, PGTL Certificate
Tanzanite is a blue to violet variety of zoite discovered in Tanzania in 1967. It is often found as a transparent gem. This mineral is remarkable for its strong trichroism, with sapphire-blue, violet or burgundy-red flakes depending on the orientation of the crystal. Most tanzanites on the market have been heat-treated to obtain or maintain their colours.
